Send an Encrypted Email Message Off-Campus (External)

Internal mail does not need to be encrypted.

Any email message that contains Personal Identifiable Information, that will be sent off campus, needs to be encrypted.  This includes the Students ID Number!

To send an encrypted email message just simply put -encrypt into the Subject line of the email message.

Example of entering in -encrypt into the Subject line of an email

The receiver of the email will then get a message in their external email account that looks like this:

Click on the link View Secure Message

The receiver will then need to create an account with to retrieve the message.

The receiver will also be asked to prove that they have access to the email account, by entering in a PIN number that will be sent to the external (receiver) email address.  This is a one time process and will not need to be done on future encrypted messages.

However, the receiver will have to authenticate into the EdgeWave service every time to retrieve encrypted messages.
